“OUR HISTORY”

The foundation emerged in

1992

Over the last 25 years, our enterprise has worked in challenging projects related to the territorial and environmental resource management. Our main goal is to contribute to the development of Colombia through an applied and inclusive ecology in both urban and rural sectors.

We are a multidisciplinary team of professionals who are dedicated to the development of projects related to environmental and territorial management. Our main aim is to promote an applied ecology and a proactive environmental management in Colombia. We love what we do. We enjoy to work with people who share their knowledge and our philosophy, and we are always proud of our work and projects because we think that each project developed by our entity is useful and important for the society´s welfare.

Guayacanal foundation has an administrative branch in Bogotá and its principal office is located in Los Santos, Santander. The projects developed by our entity have a high research impact, thus new knowledge is produced with our work. Currently, we are carrying out social projects that involve local communities in Santander as well as consulting through Renaturar, mainly focused on industries related to urbanism and construction, mining and hydrocarbons that are located in the Andean region, Antioquia, Santander, Magdalena Medio, Los Llanos and the Caribbean region.

In order to be part of the initiatives that promotes the environment´s protection, Guayacanal foundation has joined the Mountain Partnership and RedBioLAC – the Latin American and Caribbean Network for Biodigesters.

COMBO ARDILLO

Founder and Director of the Guayacanal´s field station

Pioneer in developing of ecological restoration projects in Los Santos, Santander, mainly through reforestation with native species in degraded areas.

GERMÁN CAMARGO RESTREPO

Founder and Scientific director

She holds a degree in agroecology and post-harvest management. Patricia is an innate leader and trainer in the Energetic Efficient Model for Arid Zones – MEEPZA.

PATRICIA PONCE DE LEÓN

Technical Director

Biologist specialized in Urban Environmental Management. He has developed several projects related to the territories analysis and planning of areas that are constantly changing, and environmental management of the urbanism.

GERMÁN CAMARGO PONCE DE LEÓN

Executive Director

Administrator, legal representative and Finance & Administration Manager. She has specialized in the human resource management field and obtaining economic funds.

CATALINA CAMARGO PONCE DE LEÓN

Technical subdirector

Biologist specialized in environmental law and master in Conservation of the nature and Management of the natural resources. She supervises projects that involve technical, normative, political and institutional aspects of environmental topics.

MARÍA JOSÉ CALDERÓN

Deputy Director of Research and Development

Veterinary, master in management and conservation of the natural environment. Supervise projects related to land-use planning. Additionally, she formulates, executes and evaluates environmental projects.

PATRICIA LÓPEZ

Management Coordinator and Technical project supervisor

Biologist specialized in Environment planning and management of natural resources. She supervises projects of land-use planning and territorial zoning as well as environmental and social management.

PAOLA NORIEGA

Design group´s coordinator

An architect who holds a diploma in urban planning law. She has specialized in landscape and urban design applied in several economic sectors.

MARIA JANETH BUITRAGO

Project Coordinator

A biologist with experience in ornithology. Her interests are focused on projects related to alternatives associated with the use, management, perception and functionality of the biodiversity.

LAURA AGUDELO

Research assistant

Generate and support environmental and gastronomic training that are addressed to rural women in Los Santos.

EMILCEN GUEVARA

Project Coordinator

A biologist with a Ph.D. in biology – specialization herpetology. He has coordinated several components such as herpetofauna and he is involving in researching and monitoring in environmental projects.

JAVIER SUNYER

Design group´s professional

A graphic designer who holds a wide experience in development of infographic designs and visualization techniques in environmental projects.

VANESSA PORRAS

Project Coordinator

She holds a degree in agroecology and post-harvest management. Her experience is related to participatory ecological restoration projects.

YENNI BOHORQUEZ

Soluterra – GIS

Agricultural engineer specialized in the integrated environmental management. Her experience is related to the processing and interpretation of satellite images and aerial photographs.

SANDRA BOLIVAR

Soluterra – GIS

Agricultural engineer, master in soil information for natural resources management Coordinate the GIS (geographic information system) component in environmental projects.

SIDNEY PÉREZ

Institutional Coordinator

A public administrator who is focused on land-use planning projects, searching for national and international calls for funding proposals, public procurement and commercial management. She is mainly interested in environmental, social and innovative topics.

JUANA GUZMÁN

Project Coordinator

A biologist with experience in several topics mainly related to zoology, ecology and conservation. He coordinates environmental projects.

ANDRÉS HERNÁNDEZ

Project Coordinator

Forest engineer, master in rural development. He has a wide experience in environmental compensations projects, environmental impact studies and management and restoration plans.

JOHN FREDY CARDENAS

Project Coordinator

A biologist who holds a diploma in ecology and land-use planning and a master degree in environmental management. She is an independent adviser and a general project coordinator of environmental projects.

PILAR VÁSQUEZ

Coordinator of the Guayacanal foundation’s herbarium

A biologist with a wide experience in the systematization, standardization and corroboration of the information associated with biological collections as well as physical maintenance of botanical specimens.

CYNTHIA PINZÓN

HSEQ and human management assistant

An industrial engineer who attend a seminar in HSEQ and internal audit in ISO9001: 2015, 14001: 2015, OHSAS 18001. Her experience is related with the administrative area and human management.

JOHANA MENESES

Subdirectories assistant

Business administrator and professional technician in environmental control. She has experience in the commercial and administrative area.

DIANA MARIA CAMACHO

Administrative assistant

A public administrator who has experience in technical and logistical support in the administrative area as well as creating of databases and information tracking.

NICOLÁS HERRERA

Accounting assistant

Accounting and Finance technologist. She has focused on processes related to payslip, portfolio, liquid assets and invoicing in her labour in the entity.

LORENA NAVARRETE

General Services Assistant

He provides logistic support to the activities conducted in the Guayacanal´s field station.

RICARDO PEÑA

Community leader

He is in charge of the logistics and technical support in the activities that are developed in the frame of the MEEPZA project as well as in ecological restoration processes.
