THE SABALITO PROJECT
The lack of knowledge regarding the successional dynamics of those ecosystems that are economically exploited contributes to increase the possibilities of generating negative impacts and decrease the opportunities to achieve the goals of the restoration actions. This is important to be taken into account, for the auriferous alluvial plains which are a complex ecosystem and highly unknown in our country.
As Mineros SA is interested in improving its ecological restoration program, in 2013 we had the opportunity to deeply analyse the dynamic of the alluvial plains of the Nechi River. We established the characterization of the ecosystems of this area and the multi-scale analysis of the dynamic. We designed a successional model and several restoration typologies that are useful in the swamp ecosystems of the country.
