The government of Bogotá has issued a decree that established the technical and urbanistic conditions for the Lagos de Torca development, known as the “Plan zonal del norte”, an initiative of 15 years of failed attempts.
This is an ambitious plan that combines both urbanistic and environmental topics that contribute to promote a mixture of social stratums and establish the land use in that area. Additionally, this project involves a wide range of services focused in the public space. This involves an area of 1.803 hectares (six times the Central Park, New York). There is a projection within this project that includes 150 hectares destinate to a metropolitan park, 300 ha for roads, 83 ha for wetlands protection, 23 ha for environmental management and 465 ha for sidewalks, cicloroutes and squares; 3 hospitals, schools and parking lots for public transport.
