Guayacanal foundation developed flora studies and the supporting documents for the establishment of the San Bartolo natural reserve of the civil society. This was a teamwork between several entities such as Yondo town hall, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Nature and Culture International (NCI), Biodiversa Foundation, Cormagdalena, Society of Public Improvements of Medellin through the Santa Fe Zoo and the Catolica de Oriente University (UCO), among others.


Those entities contributed to establish the Regional district of integrated management “Barbacoas’ marsh” as a protected area that has 32.072 hectares which are part of the wetland complex.
